Pension HoNoMi-Tei, located in Shinhotaka Spa in Oku-Hida Onsenkyo, is a popular inn with men and women’s indoor baths and two outdoor baths that have different charms. You can reserve these baths during your stay (time system). We make all our cuisine by hand with a blend of Japanese and Western styles that allow you to experience the seasons. Our small inn on a plateau like that of a mountain lodge is surrounded by the mountains of the Northern Alps.

We are a small inn with a total of eight rooms.
However, we have two baths that can be reserved and men and women’s indoor baths.
Yakedake Jigoku Onsen is the source of the hot water for the baths in our inn.
Jigoku Onsen means “hot spring of hell” in Japanese.
This hot spring is characterized by an abundant amount of hot water
that is on the hotter side as implied by its name.
※We adjust the temperature together with natural water.
Therefore, the temperature is adjusted so that you can take a pleasant bath at any time.
Taruburo is one of our wonderful outdoor baths that has a tatami mat floor. The scenery changes depending on the season in which you take a bath. However, we have given this the name “Komorebi-no Yu (Spring of Sunlight Filtering through the Trees)” because it is a bath in a forest surrounded by the trees.
If you are lucky and blessed with good weather, you can experience a blissful time staring out at the never-ending starry sky throughout the four seasons.
We have fitted handrails to this rock bath in consideration for your safety.
Use by Guests
※Please reserve the outdoor baths on a room basis.
※How to use: There are slippers for use in the outdoor baths at the entrances of the outdoor baths. Changing from your indoor slippers into the slippers for use in the outdoor baths serves as a sign that the bath is in use.
※Please determine whether or not the bath is in use from whether or not there are indoor slippers at the entrance. Please check the entrance of the outdoor bath when bathing in an outdoor bath. You can bathe anytime as long as there are no indoor slippers at the entrance. You can bathe in the baths as many times as you like during your stay.
※Please bathe for about one hour at a time. Please allow others to also enjoy the baths.
There are 1 hot spring for each gender and 3 washrooms in the hotel. These baths are not available for reservation.
The owner of this inn was originally a Japanese cuisine chef. He honed his skills working in the kitchens of hotels and ryokans (Japanese-style inns). Including his experience involved in French cuisine, he trained for 10 years. After that he opened HoNoMi-Tei. His cooking offers balance over the whole meal and comes at the most delicious time. Therefore, we arrange your meal time to suit everyone. We will serve you cuisine without missing the delicious time. Please bear with us so that you can enjoy a delicious meal. We offer cuisine that blends Japanese and Western styles – from classic dishes to seasonal specialties.
HoNoMi-Tei is a small wooden mountain inn located in Shinhotaka Spa in Oku-Hida Onsenkyo (Nakao Kogen). We have a total of eight guest rooms. We have one room with a bathroom. There is a very peaceful environment here because we are surrounded by the nature of the Northern Alps and because there is also little traffic. Insects make charming sounds on an ordinary basis throughout the year. These insects may occasionally get into your room, but this is also evidence of the abundant nature here. We hope that you can understand this. We will deal with them if you tell a member of staff. All our rooms have been built in the Western-style. We have a twin room with a bath and toilet, a twin and triple room without a bath and toilet, and a four person room without a bath and toilet. Please use the shared toilet and washbasin facilities. You can feel the nature of the four seasons from your room. In addition, the plateau is also cool in summer. Therefore, we have not installed air conditioners in our rooms.
